Coronavirus In India Updates: Total Positive Covid-19 Cases Near 20,000 Mark, 640 People Dead So Far

Coronavirus In India LIVE Updates : The number of lives claimed by the Covid-19 coronavirus in India escalated sharply to 640 on Wednesday morning, with the total tally of positive cases rapidly nearing the 20,000 mark. Gujarat is now second after Maharashtra with 2,178 Covid-19 cases, as it saw 19 more deaths.

Amidst heightening of tension between the centre and the West Bengal government, the Chief secretary of West Bengal wrote to the Union Home Secretary and alleged that the IMCT had arrived without any prior consultation with WB government.

The suspension of immigration into United States, will be in effect for 60 days, after which the need for any extension or modification will be evaluated based on economic conditions at the time, said US President Donald Trump.

Education bookshops, fan shops to be exempted from lockdown: Govt

The Union Home Ministry has extended relaxation to several agriculture and commercial industries from the lockdown restrictions. In the commercial sector, shops selling textbooks and establishments selling electric fans can also operate. In the agricultural sector, the relaxation has been extended to facilities for export or import such as pack houses, inspection and treatment facilities for seeds and horticulture produce. It also includes relaxation to research establishments dealing with the agriculture and horticulture activities and the inter- and intra-state movement of planting materials and honey bee colonies, honey and other beehive products.

The Union Home Ministry also also ordered Standard Operating Procedure for the sign-on and sign-off of Indian seafarers (crew members) at Indian ports and their movement. According to the SOP laid down for sign-in of a Indian crew member, the ministry said that the seafarer will have to intimate their travel and contact history for the last 28 days to the ship owner or the recruitment and placement service.

The number of lives claimed by the Covid-19 coronavirus in India escalated sharply to 640 on Wednesday morning, with the total tally of positive cases rapidly nearing the 20K mark. Total cases of Covid infection was recorded at 19984, while the count of those recovered was 3870, as per the data with the Union Health Ministry.

Gujarat now second after Maharashtra with 2,178 cases, sees 19 more deaths

Tuesday proved to be a bad day for Gujarat, as the state not only crossed the 2,000 mark for coronavirus patients but reached the second spot in the country, after Maharashtra, with 2,178. The day saw the maximum number of deaths due to coronavirus with 19 patients succumbing to the virus, the most so far. The state's toll has now reached 90. The deaths included four women - two aged 40, one aged 52 and one 70, two males, aged 65, and 70, admitted in SVP Hospital, Ahmedabad and a female, 65, in Civil Hospital Surat. All of them had co-morbidity. Also, three females - aged 60, 63, and 70 - and a male, 66, admitted in the Civil Hospital, Ahmedabad, a female (55) admitted in Civil Hospital Surat and a male (40) admitted in the Gujarat Medical Education and Research Society (GMERS) Hospital Gotri, succumbed to the virus. None of the six had any co-morbid condition.
